About Cannabis in Denver, CO

I’m coming in from out of state. How much marijuana can I buy?

Before you stop by Peak recreational dispensary, here’s a couple Frequently Asked Questions about marijuana in Denver, CO. As of October 1, 2016, out-of-towners can buy the same as in-state residents – one ounce of cannabis or cannabis-infused products. According to the revision, an eighth (3.5 grams) of recreational cannabis is equivalent to one gram of recreational concentrate or ten 10 milligram servings of THC in a retail marijuana product.

I’m traveling through. Can I transport marijuana out of Colorado?

It is illegal to transport cannabis and/or cannabis-infused products outside of the state borders of Colorado. Adults 21 and older are permitted to carry up to 1 ounce of cannabis and/or cannabis-infused products in their car if it is in a sealed container and does not cross state boundaries.

What is the recommended edible dosage?

Edibles affect each person differently. Recreationally, the recommended dose is 10 milligrams and they can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours to take effect, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time before considering more. Always remember to start low and take it slow.

Where can I consume?

According to Amendment 64, consumption of cannabis “openly and publicly” is prohibited. Consumption must be done in private and done so in a “manner that does not endanger others.” You also cannot consume in or next to Peak.

What forms of ID do you take?

We will accept any valid, government-issued form of identification. This includes driver’s licenses, identification cards, passports, and military IDs. IDs we will not accept: out-of-state temporary IDs, expired IDs, out of country drivers’ licenses and identification cards, IDs that are cracked, chipped, taped back together, or otherwise severely damaged.

What is the difference between shatter and wax?

Wax and shatter are two types of concentrates, created by extracting the THC from the marijuana plant and turning it into an oil. Once the oil is extracted, it can go one of two ways. Wax is made by agitating the oil, usually by whipping it, before purging in a vacuum oven. The agitation results in a soft, buttery consistency. For shatter, the oil is left alone and purged in a vacuum oven at a lower temperature for a longer time, resulting in a more glass-like consistency. The colors for both wax and shatter can vary from a light golden yellow to a darker amber depending on the extraction method used.

What is the difference between smoking weed and dabbing?

“Dabbing” is the term used for consuming concentrates. We do not recommend dabbing if you have never smoked cannabis before. Since the product is so concentrated, a small “dab” is all you need. It can often be a more intense experience, giving you a quick, concentrated high. Remember: start low, go slow. You can always smoke more afterward.

Can I take marijuana out of Colorado?

No, it is illegal to transport any marijuana or marijuana-infused product across the Colorado state borders. The budtender will stop the sale if you mention that you are taking product outside of Colorado.

What is the difference between medical and recreational marijuana?

Even though the cannabis on both sides are equally top-shelf, medical patients are granted access to higher edible dosages, less tax on products, and lower costs.

What do I do if my pet ingests marijuana?
